that's the same chords i have in the tab. as far as the lyrics go i just don't hear the s. i hear it just comal county blue like the title. like he's saying he is the comal county blue not that he has the comal county blues. i could be wrong but that's just how i hear it. -superman1148 | 6/28/2008 |
your right! But when you capo 2nd fret leave the top E open. -bullrider1106 | 7/15/2008 |
thanks for the info bullrider, i never thought of that. i think that's how they do "up and gone" as well but when i went to look it was gone. must be one of the tabs lost when they got hacked. if anyone has any of the songs that were lost printed off please resubmit them. i would love to have "thunderbird wine". i can't find it anywhere. -superman1148 | 7/16/2008 |
you dont leave the top E string open, you put it in Drop D tuning and THEN capo the 2nd. just to help everyone out! most songs played in the root note of D are usually drop D tuned. it just gives a fuller, deeper tone out of the D. -derekalankruege | 10/10/2008 |
Also, for those who don't have a capo, the chord progression would be as follows: D=E A=B G=A Bm=C#m just thought id help. -derekalankruege | 10/10/2008 |
isn't leaving the bottom E open without a capo on it kinda like tuning to drop D and putting the capo on all six strings. -cecil71 | 10/29/2008 |
sorry didn't realize someone already put that. also i thought that line in the chorus says "where i paid aideu's" like the french word for goodbye -cecil71 | 10/29/2008 |
Here's my certified lyrics for it... enjoy! What a cool song. I'm making a karaoke track and singing this down on Congress here is Austin tonight.
I guess it finally rained It's down to eighty-five I bet the fish are biting Down by the riverside But it's the only place made colder Around here in the middle of June By the endless string of strangers Brought by the summer moon
My brother moved off to Houston And most my friends stay gone I need to pay my taxes I don't like to mow my lawn I have a harmless habit Of being fine wherever I am But the way this water's rising I need to get up above the dam
Tonight I'm rolling up north Back to where I paid a due Tonight the answer is Austin For the Comal County Blue
There's one rolled in my ashtray I'm taking Hunter Road Out by Riley's Tavern Where my liquor loved to flow We'll skip around San Marcos Stop and tell Doug, "Hello" Second gear up Congress You know I like to take it slow
Tonight I'm rolling up north Back to where I paid a due Tonight the answer's Austin For the Comal County Blue
The one right beside me Helped me make it through that town We moved out to the country Then we bought a wedding gown But we still know our ways We learned those lessons well Back around the turn of the century From a one room roadside cell
Yeah, tonight I'm rolling up north Back to where I paid a due Tonight the answer's Austin For the Comal County Blue
Oh, tonight I'm rolling up north Back to where I paid a due Sometimes the only answer's Austin For the Comal County Blue

I found a guy on YouTube that does a really good cover of the song that helped me learn it and he's got a bunch of other Boland and ragweed videos up also, his user name is "Amonsiball" and here the link for comal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeBA1ehp4mk&feature=youtube_gdata_player -g-stringonmyaxe | 9/11/2010 |
