Playing A Country Shuffle Lesson by atekjunkie
There are lots of shuffles played in country music. If you don't know how to properly play
a shuffle then this lesson is for you! I will go over one of the most common patterns used
when playing shuffles. Keep in mind that a shuffle sounds alot like a waltz but they are two
diffrent strumming styles.
First the chords we will use: G, C, D But we are going to vary the fingerings for this
chords to give them a little more UMPFH if ya will!
Strings: 654321
Hold your G chord with this fingering: 320033
Strings: 654321
Hold your C chord with this fingering: X32013
Strings: 654321
Hold your D chord with this fingering: X00232
Now onto the picking patterns for the chords:
Country Shuffle Pattern:
Pick down on the lowest string of the chord.
Pick up on the 4th string.
Strum down-up on strings 3,2,1.
Pick up on the 4th string again.
Strum down on strings 3,2,1 (Ends Pattern)
