(D)I have a very good friend in Nashville,Tennessee who is a semiprofessional wino
And during one of our recent and frequent conversations we got to talk about his
religeous philosophy. And as far as I could determine, this is the way he feels
about it.
(D)Lord, can a (A)drunk,go to(D)heaven
(A)Well frankly,I don't see(D)why not
If the(G)lord loves the weak and the(D)weary
Well(E)how come he can't love a(A)sot
Now I(D)don't drink to(A)hurt any(D)body
Why I(A)love everybody I(D)meet
I can(G)quit anytime but I don't(D)want to
And in(E)fact, I quit three times last(A)week
Now let me(D)tell you 'bout(A)some of them(D)preachers
Lord you(A)know some of 'em aint worth a(D)dime
Why,they're(G)flirtin' with all of them(D)widders
Hmm,(E)yeah,and one is a widder of(A)mine
Oh, I(D)hear people(A)prayin'so(D)fancy
Why,they'd(A)be better off sendin'(D)you mail
Lord,if(G)they could've heard me last(D)Sunday
Well, I'd'v(E)prayed 'em right out of(A)jail
Now(D)Lord if a(A)drunk gets to(D)heaven
To(A)walk on that great Golden(D)Strand
Would you(G)give me a spot and the(D)shade of a(E)tree
And(A)remember, I'm a(D)bourbon(G)man (D)(B)(A)
