Pentatonic Scales Lesson by DougieLove
Although there have been lessons with the Major and Minor Pentatonic
scale formations, only two forms have been showcased. There are a
total of 5 patterns in the Pentatonic scale, each made up of the 5
notes involved (hence, PENTAtonic). I'll tab the shapes out in the
key of "A minor", with the root in CAPS, but to change the key, just
move the patterns...

1st FORM
e --0------3- --e------g-
b ----1----3- ----c----d-
g --0----2--- --g----A---
d --0----2--- --d----e---
a --0------3- --A------c-
E --0------3- --e------g-

2nd FORM
e ----3---5- ----g---A-
b ----3---5- ----d---e-
g --2-----5- --A-----c-
d --2-----5- --e-----g-
a ----3---5- ----c---d-
E ----3---5- ----g---A-

3rd FORM
e --5-----8- --A-----c-
b --5-----8- --e-----g-
g --5---7--- --c---d---
d --5---7--- --g---A---
a --5---7--- --d---e---
E --5-----8- --A-----c-

4th FORM
e ----8---10- ----c---d-
b ----8---10- ----g---A-
g --7---9---- --d---e---
d --7-----10- --A-----c-
a --7-----10- --e-----g-
E ----8---10- ----c---d-

5th FORM
e ----10---12---- ----d---e---
b ----10------13- ----A-----c-
g --9------12---- --e-----g---
d ----10---12---- ----c---d---
a ----10---12---- ----g---A---
E ----10---12---- ----d---e---

Now, when you put them all together, you get a nice seamless form to
cover the whole lenght and width of the neck for your solos...

e -0-----3---5-----8---10---12----
b ---1---3---5-----8---10------13-
g -0---2-----5---7---9------12----
d -0---2-----5---7-----10---12----
a -0-----3---5---7-----10---12----
E -0-----3---5-----8---10---12----

e -e-----g---A-----c---d---e---
b ---c---d---e-----g---A-----c-
g -g---A-----c---d---e-----g---
d -d---e-----g---A-----c---d---
a -A-----c---d---e-----g---A---
E -e-----g---A-----c---d---e---

Knowing all 5 patters will open up new voicings for your solos, and
best part about it: there's only 5 notes!!!
