 Diesel Drivin’ Daddy
 Aaron Watson

  	    A
Well my truck’s wound up and it’s ready to roll
  	 D
I got a good buddy workin’ for the Highway Patrol
       E A
So if I get a ticket or two, It’s gonna be alright
  	   A
But the sheriff and his boys they’re in Estilline
  	  	 D
Unless they’re out to lunch at the Dairy Queen
            E
They’ll be itchin’ to turn on those red, white, and blue
  A
 lights

 A
Well just like my daddy I was born a drifter
 D
I got a rebel heart and eight - ball shifter
 E A
Horns on the hood and forty channel CB

Well some things you never leave home without
 D
Like your Bible, log book, and your drivin’ route
 E A
And your Best Of Dale Watson on CD

 Chorus:
  	       E D
Cause I’m a diesel drivin’ daddy
  	       A
Don’t you get in my lane
  	       E D
Puttin’ the pedal to the medal
  	     A
 Bringin’ eighteen wheels of pain
  	        D
 I’ve been in love
  	      E
 Broke some hearts
  	  	    A D
Settled down long enough to replace the parts
  	     D
 Kicked a little
 E A
 Asphalt along the way

There’s a lonely life livin’ on the road
When the only friend you’ve got is the radio
And even he fades in and out every now and then
But maybe someday you’ll find the right one
That'll shift the gears and let ya ride shotgun
Knows how to get that big ole rig to spin

 Chorus

 A
 I’m a panhandlin’ manhandlin’
  	  	  	  	         D
Post holin’ high rollin’ dust bowlin’ daddy
 E
I ain’t got no blood in my veins

I just got them four lanes
  	  	   A
 Of hard Amarillo highway

 Chorus

         E D A
Up and down that honky tonkin’ highway

They end the song by playing these chords pretty quick, so just use barre chords.
 F#, G, G#, A, A

That 5th line where you couldn't figure the words is "That can shift the gears and let ya ride shotgun"

anyways.. Great tab!

I just saw him play at the hall tonight and was wondering if anyone knew
how to play the little truck sound he makes before the song...
kinda dumb but just fun to play when you're kickin it with some people
around.

And sorry, I'm a grammarholic.

It's "put the petal to the metal" not "medal"
