I Don't Want You To Go (But I Need You To Leave)
 By Aaron Watson
 Written By Lowry Watson

 Here we go....
 G
You're too hard to handle, scandal after scandal, you must think I'm naïve
                     Am D G
I don't want you to go but I need you to leave
      G
It's wild alibis and those outrageous lies you expect me to believe
                     Am D G
I don't want you to go but I need you to leave

 Chorus:
       C G
Well, I've thought about it and I've made up my mind
      D G
It's time we call it quits
     C G
You know you may be fun for Saturday night
         A7 D
But the rest of the week is the pits
 G
Measure what we have between the good and the bad And there's just too much uncertainty
                     Am D G
I don't want you to go but I need you to leave

 Solo

Because you placed the blame on the pink champagne for dancin' naked on New Year's Eve
I don't want you to go but I need you to leave
I'll buy a one-way ticket to destination, you pick it anywhere from Tulsa to Tel Aviv
I don't want you to go but I need you to leave

 Chorus

Anytime you're nice, I can't help but think twice there's always something up your sleeve
I don't want you to go but I need you to leave
I don't want you to go but I need you to leave
 Aw yeah....

Great job! I love this song and I think this is just how Aaron plays it.

I think there is a C between the Am and D during the verses when he walks it up. Any thoughts?

I added a tab that shows the bass run

I've seen Aaron play this song several times...he does not play an A7 in the chorus, he just goes from G to D.

same here. i saw him and he goes G to D.

Listen to the bass line and follow along
with your guitar in hand - or, if watching
live, see what the bass player does because
that is what drives the chordal progression.
