July in Cheyenne (Song for Lane's Momma) – Aaron Watson

Intro: [E]

V.1
       [E] [C#m]
In the rain and the mud in July in Cheyenne
            [Bm] [A]
They had to carry away that brave young man
         [E] [C#m]
A little part of every heart of every rodeo fan
                  [Bm] [A]
Died there in the rain and the mud in July in Cheyenne

Transition Chord Between Verses: [A]

V.2
Lookin' back it doesn't seem so long ago
He was bigger than life, God rest his soul
Why he died that day is hard to understand
Right there in the rain and the mud in July in Cheyenne

Ch.
            [Bm] [A]
So tip your hat to the cowboy every once in a while
         [E] [C#m]
And take time to remember that cowboy's smile
         [Bm] [A]
A little part of every heart of every rodeo fan
                  [E] [C#m]
Died there in the rain and the mud in July in Cheyenne

Instrumental: Verse Pattern with Transition Chord

V.3
No buckles on a shelf collecting dust
Still his memory shines inside of all of us
Some miss their hero, some miss their friend
His mom and daddy long to see their little boy again

Rpt. Ch.

V.4
In the rain and the mud in July in Cheyenne
They had to carry away that brave young man
If your washed in the blood someday you'll see him again
And it won't be in the rain and the mud in July in Cheyenne

This is my first attempt at posting a charted song... I usually just chart them for our band and let it be done. However this song was WAY to good and did not exists anywhere on the net yet so I had no choice but to share it. Please let me know of any corrections and I'll sure make sure to make it right!
