IT'S FIVE O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE
Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett
CD: Greatest Hits II
2003, Arista Records
Intro
The (D) sun is hot and (A7) that old clock is (D) moving slow
And, (A7) so am I
The (D) work day passes (A7) like molasses, in (Bm) wintertime
But, (A7) it's Ju(D)ly
Gettin (G) paid by the hour
And (D) older by the minute
(A7) Boss just pushed me (D) over the limit
Like to (G) call him something
(D) Think I'll just call it a (A7) day
(D) Pour me something (G) tall and strong
Make it a (A7) Hurricane before (D) I go insane
It's only half past (G) 12, but I don't (A7) care
(No chord) It's 5 o'clock, (D) somewhere
(D) (G) (A7) (D)
Well, (D) this lunch break is (A7) gonna take all (D) afternoon
And (A7) half the night
To(D)morrow morning, (A7) I know there'll be (Bm) hell to pay
Hey but, (A7) that's al(D)right
Ain't (G) had a day off now
In (D) over a year
My (A7) Jamaican vacation's
Gonna (D) start right here
If the (G) phone's for me
You can (D) tell them I've just sailed a(A7)way
(D) Pour me something (G) tall and strong
Make it a (A7) Hurricane before (D) I go insane
It's only half past (G) 12, but I don't (A7) care
It's 5 o'clock, (D) somewhere
Solo
I could (Bm) pay off my tab
Pour my(Bm/A)self in cab and be (G) back to (A) work before (D) 2
At a (Bm) moment like this
I (Bm/A) can't help but wonder
(Em) What would Jimmy Buffett (A7) do
I'd say - (D) Pour me something (G) tall and strong
Make it a (A7) Hurricane before (D) I go insane
It's only half past (G) 12, but I don't (A7) care
(D) Pour me something (G) tall and strong
Make it a (A7) Hurricane before (D) I go insane
It's only half past (G) 12, but I don't (A7) care
(G) I don't care
(No chord) It's 5 o'clock, (D) somewhere
Ad lib and fade out

Well, thanks.... -WildCard76 | 6/16/2003 |
How do you play Bm/A ? -stevef | 6/18/2003 |
I'll add that chord.......it's just a Bm chord, with an A bass -WildCard76 | 6/19/2003 |
you've got some learning to do gator... -frickity | 7/15/2003 |
HEY EXCELENT JOB ON THE TAB!!! HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THE VIDEO? I THINK HE PLAYS CAPO II. TRY IT OUT..SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. -parrothead21 | 7/20/2003 |
Yes, you could easily play this with the capo on the second fret. Just change your key to C, instead of D, once you've capo'd. -WildCard76 | 7/21/2003 |
Gator, a7 is 002020 -cfalse36 | 8/7/2003 |
Guitar dude, some people have not been playing guitar all their life, i have been playing for a year and i have a tough time with b chords, give him a break.
-cfalse36 | 8/7/2003 |
All of those who born knowing how to finger an A7 say 'aye...We all learned it once and it felt good when we got it ;-).
-jstevensss | 8/12/2003 |
This is too funny! -WildCard76 | 8/13/2003 |
Thanks for tabbing this. I've been playing for about five years and still don't have the ear to figure things out.
-Martinguitarpla | 8/14/2003 |
You are welcome. Thank YOU for the comment! I appreciate it. -WildCard76 | 8/18/2003 |

Great tab. little skechy. I not sure but isn't the line "getting paid by the hour and over by the minute"?? That makes since more right. -high_octane | 8/31/2003 |
If you own the album, check the lyrics. They are correct. -WildCard76 | 9/11/2003 |
My mistake, I just play by ear. It's all gravy -high_octane | 9/11/2003 |
No problem...LOL... -WildCard76 | 9/11/2003 |
i think the a7 is a regular "a" chord -countryjjim | 9/19/2003 |

I personaly dont care whether its an a or and a7 the tab rocks! oh, and aye! -thesquirrel16 | 11/19/2003 |
I've been (trying) to play guitar for about a year now. Always looking to find good stuff to improve my performance. Thanks for the tab. If you'all got any good suggestions please let me know, like the best way to learn how to bar chord :-) -tailgunner | 1/11/2004 |
Great tab.........but what it Ad lib and how do you play Am/G -HandrewTwatlers | 6/15/2004 |
A7 is only second fret 4th string and 2nd string (from bottom) -cpickich2 | 7/28/2004 |
G7 is 320001 -chiefsfan31 | 8/26/2004 |
What is all the discusion about an A7, don't get freaked because it has a 7th in it. It is two strings, as easy as an Em. Play an A, lift your middle and slide your ring down a fret, you have an A7.
Sounds good Wild Card -ballst83 | 9/8/2004 |
nice job! -telebmonster | 12/1/2004 |
Try playing this song with dropped d tuning an all the leads. Beginners suck!!!! -qzunie | 1/27/2005 |
Great tab, thnxxx -cowgirl6 | 2/2/2005 |
If beginners suck why are you bothering looking at the chords, figure them out yourself! -richs | 2/21/2005 |
Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!! -bradfield101 | 3/29/2005 |
richs you r any a*****e and i am proud to tell you. I bet you dont even know how to play
signed d minor lmao -D minor | 5/27/2005 |
great job on the tab........ been playing for 25 yrs and am still learning and the correction to the lyrics are ...........getting paid by the hour and older by the minute....... sounds like the job im in -sewage1 | 12/27/2005 |
