Alan Jackson – Jones and Haggard
Capo 1

D A D

D
Daddy had a 1969 Ford
When I was just about 10 years old
         A D
We would listen to Jones and Haggard on the radio
He sang She Still Thinks, I Still Care
To a girl he used to know
                      A D
Old Jones and Haggard raised my country soul.

Chorus:
                 A
I learned how to sing and to shuffle my shoes
             D
Listenin’ to Hag sing The Workin’ Man Blues
                                         A
I never met ol’ Merle, but we were awful close
         D
I cut my teeth on Swingin’ Doors, and Mama Tried to Sing Me Home
                      A D
Ol’ Jones and Haggard raised my country soul.

D A D

D
I maybe raged, but I’m right
I got 5 dollars and it’s Saturday night
  A D
O George sure put a lot of heart in the songs he sang
And everytime daddy got a little bit tight
Walk through this world make him cry
                      A D
Ol’ Jones and Haggard raised my country soul.

Chorus:
                    A D A D
Ol’ Jones and Merle they raised my country soul.

In the song they start with two down strokes hammering onto the b string and they continue hammering on and pulling off the b string through the whole chord. However, I find it easier to just hammer on the down strokes and strum the rest of the measure. This helps to match with the CD version as well as giving a little more color to the chord.
