This is the Keith Whitley and Alison Krauss
version.
Here's the correct way to play the introduction.
Tune up 1/2 step, or capo first fret.

Eighth note arpeggios.
h=hammer on
s=slide
        D A/D G/D A
[e]-----------0------------------------------
[B]---------3----------3--------3--------2s3-
[G]-------2----------2--------2--------2-----
[D]-----0----------0--------0--------2-------
[A]*4h5----------0-----------------0---------
[E]-----------------------3------------------

*Faint hammer on. Have to listen to the song
carefully to hear it. This hammer on is a little
faster than the fingerpicking. Also, the chords
listed above the introduction (A/D, G/D) may not
be the correct names for it. But I know the D
and A are correct, considering you tune up 1/2
a step or better yet, capo the first fret.
The chord progressions vary throughout the verse.
The fingerpicking is a little different from the
introduction, so see if you can figure it out.
The chorus is about the same chords, may be a
different strumming pattern.

I couldn't help but notice that yours was the only right one and you didn't have any comments, so i just wanted to say good job and that it was perfect. An easy way to play it without having to move your fingers is to hold down both the "G" and the "B" strings with your Pointer or first finger and hold the top string "E" with your thumb. when you get to the slide at the end just use your middle finger to lightly hammer on and then start over again. ~Works for me So good luck! and Nice Job.

Good job. But the 4/5 at the beginning doesn't sound right

-Ibanez88 | 1/23/2005

-travislafayette | 5/21/2005
im 14 and i play the guitar ive been playing for like 5 or 6 years and ive been asked to sing and play this song for a wedding up till now i just listened to the sound track and did rolls througout the chord and the guy who said the 4/5 slide doesnt sound right i agree but the person who said you need a capo well i sing it in open d and it works fine for me i can sing it how alison sings it too its in d sharp and if you want to play it like her put it capo 1 in the d position ps i met alison krauss this summer she was so nice
-erinkushniruk | 7/20/2005
wait that 4/5 slide i figured it out you play it fast all in one beat and then you go on it sounds fine once you get it
-erinkushniruk | 7/20/2005
Try it this way
E-------------------------3-----------------------
A-0h2------------0------------------0-------------
D-----0-0----------2--------0---------2------0----
G---------2----------2--------0---------2------2--
B-----------3----------1--------3---------2h3---3-
E-------------0----------------------------------0
Then Repeat it sounds better that way....
