CAPO 1

Tabbed By: Emrldeyzs

INTRO C F C Am 2x

VERSE 1:

C
I've been walkin' these streets of Nashville
Since I was a little kid
F G C
Either in these boots or in my dreams
        C
I spent all I had to buy this Martin
              Am
And I've been richer since I did
     F G C
Even though I can't afford to change the strings
     Am Em F
I've heard a lot of "no's" and "no thank you's"
Dm G C
Sometimes I wonder why I'm even here
      Am Em F
But I still could be an overnight sensation
        Dm G
It would only take one sympathetic ear

CHORUS:

   C Am
If Merle would sing my song, I could go back home
         F G C
And tell everyone I know that dreams come true
       C
I'd be someone in their eyes,
            Am
A face that they'd all recognize
        F Am Dm
I could prove to them and me I wasn't wrong
   F C
If Merle would sing my song

VERSE 2:
           C
I'll bet I've played this guitar
         C
In every honkytonk and bar
F G C
But as of yet they haven't noticed me
         C
But this heart and soul of mine
               Am
Is filled with memories, chords, and rhymes
      F G C
And I know that I'm the future they can't see
        Am Em F
I could maybe make a million dollars chokin' in a tie
    Dm G C
But then I'd have to live with my regret
       Am Em F
I know God didn't give me all these dreams to let 'em die
     Dm G
I'll make it big, it just hasn't happened yet

CHORUS:
       C Am
And if Merle would sing my song, I could go back home
         F G C
And tell everyone I know that dreams come true
       C
I'd be someone in their eyes,
            Am
A face that they'd all recognize
        F Am Dm
I could prove to them and me I wasn't wrong
   F C
If Merle would sing my song
        F Am Dm
I could prove to them and me I wasn't wrong
   F C F C Am
If Merle would sing my song

MERLE:
          C
He's been walkin' them streets of Nashville
Since he was a little kid
F G C C -FADE
Either in his boots or in his dreams

I like the kids music, I also think he is what country music is supposed to be.
-superd | 4/10/2005
I think on the last line of the chorus where it says "If Merle would sing my song" it should be a G, not an F..otherwise, nice job...
