It's a lot easier playing this song with barre
chords. at least that's how I play it.
You can still play it without

(verse 1)

B E
I can make anybody pretty
B E
I can make you believe any lie
      B B/A# G#m B F#
I can make you pick a fight with somebody twice your size
     B E
well I've been known to cause a few breakups
    B E
And I've been known to cause a few births
      B B/A# G#m B F#
I can make you new friends, or get you fired from work

(chorus)
              B E
And since the day I left Milwaukee
B E
Lynchburg and Bordeaux, France
     B B/A# G#m B
Been makin' the bars lots of big money
Db F#
and helpin' white people dance
  B E
I got you in trouble in high school
    B E
But college now that was a ball
        E E/D# D D/C# F#
you had some of the best times you'll never remember with me
(play intro) (play intro)
Alcoho----l, Alcoho----l

(2nd verse)
I got blamed at your wedding reception
For your best man's embarrassing speech
and also for those naked pictures of you at the beach
I've influenced kings and world leaders
I helped hemingway write like he did
And I'll bet you a drink or two
that I can make you put that lampshade on your head

(chorus 2)
Cause since the day I left Milwaukee
Lynchburg and Bordeaux, France
Been makin' the bars lots of big money
And helpin' white people dance
I am medicine and I am poison
I can help you up or make you fall
you had some of the best times you'll never rememer with me
Alcoho-----l

(chorus 1)

I don't see how it's humanly possible to play the E/Eb chord that's listed...
-benjaminukfan1 | 10/22/2005
It's pretty simple:
E--
B--
G--
D-9
A-6
E--
-sweethomealabam | 10/23/2005
how is B/Bb played
-agarofalo | 10/31/2005
Just to clear things up a bit. You wouldn't have an Eb in an E chord. It would be a D#. Same with the other / chords. D/Db would be called D/C#. It is technically the same chord but having a Db in a D chord just doesn't make sense in Theory.
