Carrie Underwood
"I Told You So"

--== Capo 1 ==--  (Key of G#)

(INTRO) G Bm Am

(VERSE 1)
   G
Suppose I called you up tonight
    Bm
And told you that I love you
      C/G D G
And suppose I said I wanna come back home
       C/G G D/F# Em
And suppose I cried and said I think I've finally learned my lesson
    Am D
And I'm tired of spending all my time alone
     G Bm
If I told you that I realize you're all I ever wanted
         C/G D G
And it's killin' me to be so far away
          C/G
Would you tell me that you love me too
    G D/F# Em
And would we cry together
   Am D
Or would you simply laugh at me and say...

(CHORUS)
  C/G G Bm C/G
I told you so... Oh I told you so
  Am D G D
I told you someday you'd come crawlin' back and askin me to take you in
  C/G G Bm C/G
I told you so... but you had to go
             Am D G Bm G Bm Am
And now I've found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two again

(VERSE 2)
     G Bm
If I got down on my knees and told you I was yours forever
          C/G D G
Would you get down on yours too and take my hand
         C/G
Would we get that old time feelin'
         G D/F# Em
Would we laugh and talk for hours
    Am D
The way we did when our love first began
          G Bm
Would you tell me that you've missed me too and that you've been so lonely
           C/G D G
And you've waited for the day that I returned
         C/G
And we'd live in love forever
            G D/F# Em
And that I'm your one and only
   Am D
Or would you say the tables finally turned

Would you say...

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Great job on this tab! I saw the other one, and that one was WAY off. It's amazing how that person had the gall to give you a rating of 1 when his is NOWHERE close to the actual tab. I tried playing his, and it sounded horrible. At any rate, I gave you a 5, and kudos! (I was actually going to post this myself, but you beat me to it. ;))

Great song. Not quite as good as Randy Travis, but this is an awesome cover.
-tpmadden | 3/11/2009
It was good! The Am didn't sound right in some parts tho. Otherwise great job!
-duck1706 | 3/18/2009
Great job- but there is a correction needed: you have an Am on
"i'm tired of spending all my time alone"
and in the first verse in the same place. It should be an A7
MUCH better.
-robinbugbee | 5/4/2009
Yes the Am's in the verses should be A7. Other than that its right on.
-BrianEarlHaines | 5/18/2009
Im not sure I agree with the comments above. I think the Am sounds right. Awesome job!

Thanks for the tab. The chord progression is identical to Randy's original, just on fret 1, not 2. Carrie's vocal on this is ridiculous. It's amazing. Would love to hear a honkytonk version of this song - Dwight Yoakham would do a great job with it

FWIW, I've seen chord charts for the Randy Travis version that call those Am7's
