hey instead of D A E A try this 003210> 032010> 320033> 032010> ? C G C Im not sure what the 1st chord is called but thats how i figured out how to play this song and it seems to sound pretty close the the way Charlie plays it. See what you think. -highwayyman | 2/1/2005 |
F C G C SOUNDS CLOSER I THINK -BREESE | 2/9/2005 |
I think the D A E A is right on. I could be wrong, because I am no pro, but it sounds like a great tab to me. Good Job! -dajenks20 | 2/21/2005 |
I will check it - it's not a matter of if it sounds good, it's a matter of if the tab is in the recorded key or not - this song with a capo on 2 means it is in the key of E.

Only 1 mistake - on the 2nd line of all the verses it stays in E and doesn't go to A

Thanks for the help man. I made the changes. If there are any more corrections they are welcome. -smalltownguy | 7/21/2005 |
I think you have done an excellent job for a second tab. If lmofle rates it a 10, you can be very proud of your effort. Based on listening to the video on CMT.com, I do have some minor suggestions regarding lyrical accuracies and chord placement that reflect my perception of the cadence and flow of the song. Instead of trying to list every little detail, I'll just post my version and you can pick up my suggestions from it:
PHOTOGRAPH - Charlie Robison **Capo 2** Well(D)I’ve got a (A)picture it’s(E)glued in a(A)book Of(D)most of my(A)family that(E)somebody took Well(D)Grandpa died(A)early be(E)fore I could(A)know The(D)man that they(A)tell me I(E)take after(A)so Though(D)I don’t re(A)member it(E)still makes me(A)laugh When I(D)see us to(A)gether in a(E)photo(A)graph
Well(D)Momma and(A)Daddy burned(E)hot like a(A)flame But it(D)all turned to(A)ashes with(E)no one to blame And(D)I can still(A)see them but(E)not in my(A)mind And(D)it’s been so(A)long all my(E)memory’s(A)blind Though(D)I can’t re(A)member it(E)still makes me(A)laugh When I(D)see us to(A)gether in a(E)photo(A)graph
Well it(D)happened last(A)winter,(E)we had a(A)son And(D)they took a(A)picture a(E)family round one And it’s(D)there to re(A)mind you when(E)you can’t re(A)call What(D)your daddy(A)looked like when(E)you were so(A)small And though(D)you won’t re(A)member it'll(E)still make you(A)laugh When you(D)see us to(A)gether in a(E)photo(A)graph And though(D)you won’t re(A)member it'll(E)still make you(A)laugh When you(D)see us to(A)gether in a(E)photo(A)graph

breese is an idiot F C G C sounds nothing like it -LornTX07 | 8/29/2005 |
Does any one know the tabs for the intro to this song -mustang65jww | 8/30/2005 |
Sorry I hadn't gotten to your comments crcrcrcr... I must admit I haven't had a lot of time for tabbing or even playing as of late. After listening to the song again I do believe your way was a little closer and have made the changes accordingly. Thanks for the input. -smalltownguy | 12/2/2005 |
smalltownguy, Glad I could help. There still is one minor lyrical correction. In the last verse, it is: "it'll still make you laugh". It may seem trivial, but it is crucial to the central theme of generational sequence that the verses follow, and it is where the author reveals that the song is written to his son. -crcrcrcr | 12/17/2005 |
