I was going to capo 2 and play D = E, A = B, G = A and Bm = C#m but the
recording has a lower sound. If you do Capo 2, you can get more of the
walkdowns you hear in the song. The A/G# would be a G/F#

The postman delivered a "past due" bill notice
A E B
The alarm clock rang two hours late
E B
The garbage man left all the trash on the sidewalk
A E B
And the hinges fell off of the gate
A A/G#
And this morning at breakfast
A A/G#
I spilled all the coffee
E B C#m B
And I opened the door on my knee

Oh the last thing I needed
E C#m
The first thing this morning

Is to have you walk out on me
Solo
Last night you came home late and I knew you'd been drinking
By that old mellow look on your face
I thought, "It don't matter 'cause it's the holiday season"
And you fill such a big empty space
But then I laid down beside you
And I wanted your loving
Because your love makes my life complete
But the last thing I needed
The first thing this morning
Was to have you walk out on me
Bridge:
A A/G#
So excuse me for looking
A A/G# E
Like my world just ended
A A/G#
And excuse me for looking
A A/G# E
Like I just lost my best friend
A A/G#
And excuse me for loving
A A/G# E
And being forgiving, just go on if you want to be free
A
But the last thing I needed
E C#m
The first thing this morning
B E
Was to have you walk out on me
Oh, the last thing I needed
The first thing this morning
Was to have you walk out on me
