Well, (A) we went down to the Grundy County (D) auction
The (A) sign said no tobaccer where we (E) sat
My (A) wife told me that I should spit with (D) caution
Or (A) else we'll all wind (E) up in a big ol' (A) spat

And I said (A) hush your mouth nobody's gonna mind
If I pack my lip and ignore the sign
'Cause a (D) little dip of Skoal never (G) hurt no one at (A) all
Then, I've (A) never seen anyone get so mad
From a little bit of spit on his John Deere hat
But I (D) spit on him once, spit on him twice
Spit (A) Skoal on the feller in the second row
Well he turned around and nearly broke my nose
I got a big fat lip, two black eyes
Shoulda just went and dipped outside

Well, it (A) must've been about eight or nine more (D) minutes
Un(A)til I pulled that can of Skoal back (E) out
And (A) I knew when I put my fingers (D) in it
That (A) I'd just spit it (E) out amongst the (A) crowd

A pinch 'tween your cheek and gum is not a crime
