what pattern do you use for the finger picking? -keithpetru | 4/22/2003 |
This is the pattern that I use
1-pointer finger 2-thumb
e------1----] B-------1---] D--1--------] G----2------] A-----------] E-----------] -Baumann | 5/21/2003 |
This is all correct except for the fact that cory morrow uses all five fingers not just two. It is really amazing if you've seen him play it. Also after he does the intro with the real fast finger picking he starts off the "body" of the song with this lick and will play it every three or four stanzas that he sings. Am e---------------------------------------- b-----0h1-0--3-0h1-0-----0------0----- g---------------------------------------- d---2------------------0-------0---------- a--0-------------------------------------- E--------------------1------3-------------- and he'll play that lick a few times and then go back to singing. This is played really quickly using all five fingers. Listen for it and you'll hear it. Try it and tell me if i'm crazy or not.

hey are you sure that is not the same riff that I called the bridge up above? They are close to the same. Just finger pick it and play a bar-F instead of the other one. (133211 as opposed to xx3211)
if not then i will listen again. Thanks. -zacrobinson | 2/19/2004 |
After listening to it several times I think your right. Or at least he doesn't start out with a hit on the first fret like i have it. But he does walk the base line after he plays it. In the verse when you play the bar chord f and then the g, instead of doing that just walk the base line with your index finger and middle finger never moving your ring finger off of the g string. This makes it easier to go back to a minor. It is shown in my other comment. You can't hardly hear it on the song, but it sounds right and i saw him play it. however i may be wrong, this is just my interpertation. Try it and tell me if you like it. -tophand | 2/19/2004 |
