I must look just like a fool
G/B G Cadd9 run-to G
Here in the middle of the road

(run to G)

G D Am
Standin' there in your rearview
 	     G/B G Cadd9
And gettin' soaked to the bone
G Cadd9
This land is flat as it is mean
G Cadd9 run-to G
A man can see for a hundred miles

G D Am
So I' still prayin'I might see
              G/B G Cadd9
The glow of a break light

(Chorus)

         G
But your wheels just turn
 	  Em
Down the road ahead
      C
If it hurts at all
         D
You aint showed it yet
        G
I keep lookin for
    Em
The slightest sign
     C
That you might miss
         D
What you left behind
Am Em run to G(2) G
I know there's mothing stoppin' you now

Run to G(2)

                     G/B G Cadd9
But I'd settle for a slowdown

-------3h2--O-----------------
-------------------3--O-------

G/B G Cadd9
I held on longer than I should
G/B G Cadd9 run-to G
Believin' you might change your mind
G D Am
And those bright lights of Hollywood
      Em G Cadd9
Would fade in Time

(Repeat Chorus)

         G
But your wheels just turn
         Em
Down the road ahead
      C
If it hurts at all
          D
You aint showed it yet
              G
You're just a tiny dot
        Em
On that horizon line
        C
Come on tap those brakes
     D
Baby just one time
  Am Em Run-to G(2) G
I know there's nothing stoppin' you now
        Am Em Run-to G(2) G
I'm not askin' you to turn back around
                     G/B G Cadd9
But I'd settle for a slowdown
             G/B G Cadd9
Come on just slow down
                 G/B G
I'd settle for a slow down

-calebgunter89 | 2/4/2011
This tab is still wrong. The verse progression should be Em, G, Cadd9.
-drew183 | 8/2/2012
Also, at the end of the chorus, the progression should be Am, G/B, Cadd9

Essentially the chord I listed is a G shape with the top and bottom string open. It's the picking patterrn that was on an acoustic version Dierks played a few years ago when the song first came out. Em fits perfectly when strumming chords but doesn't include the D note in the pattern. Play whichever you wish...I find it easier to play the open G shape because it's less movement back to the G and allows more freedom to pick. Most times I play the shape I listed and avoid playing the bottom half of the chord when strumming...that way you are only lifting your middle finger on and off the 6th string when you transfer. Sounds the same as Em but again play whichever you prefer...they should sound similar.
