Garth Brooks
"Friends In Low Places"

This is just another of the 500 different ways to play the song. I know these aren't
the chords that Garth uses, but they work if you want to sing along and
strum before the solo that I put with this, and you don't have
to remove the capo. Enjoy.

Capo 2 for chords and solo

G
Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots
    Am
And ruined your black tie affair
    D
The last one to know, the last one to show
          G
I was the last one you thought you'd see there

And I saw the surprise, and the fear in his eyes
     Am
When I took his glass of champagne
D
I toasted you, said "Honey, we may be through

But you'll never hear me complain!"

Chorus
      G
Cause I got friends in low places
                                                  Am
Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my bl-ues away
         D
And I'll be okay
    G
Now I'm not big on social graces

Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
   Am D G
So I've got friends in low pla-ces

Solo

G
Well I guess I was wrong, I just don't belong
    Am
But then, I've been there before
     D
Everything's all right, I'll just say goodnight
         G
And I'll show myself to the door

Hey I didn't mean, to cause a big scene
     Am
Just give me an hour and then
D
I'll be as high as that ivory tower

That you're livin' in

Chorus

Repeat chorus as many times as desired

G- 320003
D- x00323
Am- 002210

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the intro and solo to the song. Again, the solo probably
isn't what is really played, but it works great for me.

h= Hammer-on
s= slide
po= pull off

Some of Garths chosen chords are a pain to play. This chord selection you picked is good for me and you did some thoughtful work here. Can't help complimenting the site too. Country music is my bag, baby! Ed Z

this is good but where it goes "showed up in boots" there is a chord thats missing in between the G and Am

-blezingercamero | 2/8/2006
Try adding the second chord of the intro, ie 4 x343x which I would call a Bb diminished between the G and the Am. You can add it at the same spot in each verse, You can strum it or pick it arpeggio, like the opening intro, whichever you prefer..

Missing a chord: On "Showed up in boots" you need a Edim (or Ddim if it's capo 2).
-willyd_5 | 5/2/2013
An E major chord works great for inbetween G and Am. Only in the verses
