Three
By Gene Watson

    E
The day that we were married
A
The people shook my hand
     B7
They said we two were now as one
    A E
And me a lucky man

     E
From that day on that's all I ever
A
Wanted us to be
B7
Until the day you told me
        E
We'd be three

     E
Then we began the waiting
    A
And made our little jokes
B7
You couldn't look at monkeys
    A E
And I gave up my smokes

E
You prophasized he'd be a boy
A
And look a lot like me
B7
Lord but I was proud
             E
That we'd be three

    F
One night the endless days of waiting
Bb
All came to an end
    C7
You woke me from my restless sleep
    Bb F
And said we must go in

    F
The sun won't rise on any day
Bb
Again like that for me
C7
The day had come when
                  F
Two would soon be three

  F
I smoked an endless burning chain
Bb
Of bitter cigarettes
C7
I must have walked a thousand miles
     Bb F
With fear in every step

F
Two long days and two long nights
Bb
That I refused to sleep
C7
And they were losing hope
             F
That we'd be three

    F#
The preacher came, the doctor came
B
And said I must be brave
  C7#
I remember saying
   B F
It was more than I could take

F#
Now what's the world to do with
    B
Any crazy man like me
  C7#
A lonely one who wanted
      B C#7 F#
To be three

Excellent. I'm new to guitar playing and I love his music to play
along with. I keep searching for the lyrics with chords but they are
hard to find....especially the slower songs.

Thanks so much for this one. I appreciate it.
