CAPO 1

Intro
D D D A

Verse1
                  D G
I know the end is near, I've seen the warning signs
                 A D
Been preparing myself, laying in supplies
                                      G
I bought a case of Jack, a box set of Merle
            D A D
I'm getting ready, ready for the end of the world

Chorus
            G D
I'm getting ready for the end to come
           G A A7
That final hour it all comes undone
                  D G
And she drops the bomb and says she ain't my girl
           D A D A D
I'm gettin ready, ready for the end of the world

Verse2
                 D G
My neon shelter waits, where i can go to hide
                   A D
While the memories burn I'll be safe inside
                                       G
With a honky tonk few bracing for the worst
             D A D
I'm getting ready, ready for the end of the world

Repeat Chorus

G D
Yeah I'll be ready
A D
ready for the end of the world

This is one of my favorite songs on the new George Strait album, Thanks for the tab. Sounds good with a capo on first fret played in D position, but need tune to a drop D to grab that deep bass note. I have been playing in E position with guitar tuned down a 1/2 step to also hit that bass note. Great song, Thanks guitarpicker

yeah - i knew the recording was in drop d - its just when you put it in drop d none of the other chords sounded right.

"layin in supplies" other than that, looks and sounds great, thanks for the good work.

If someone didn't put this one up I was about to myself. Great job, everything is right on! On a side note this album is proof that George has still got it. What a great song, one of the best off the new disk.
