Artist: George Strait

Album: Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind?

Songwriters: Sonny Throckmorton and Casey Kelly

Intro Riff

E----------------------------------------------3

G-4-0-2---0-------------2---0------------------0
D-------4---2-4-0---------4---2-4-0-2----------0
A-----------------3-------------------3-2-3-2--2
E----------------------------------------------3

G C
I knew the stakes were high right from the start

D D7 G
When she dealt the cards I bet my heart

                                      C
Now I just found a game that I can't play

     D D7 G
And this is where the cowboy rides away

                                          C
And my heart is sinking like the setting sun

D D7 G
Setting on the things I wish I'd done

                                   C
It's time to say goodbye to yesterday

     D D7 G
And this is where the cowboy rides away

(Repeat Riff)

G C
We've been in and out of love and in between

     D D7 G
And now we play the final showdown scene

                                          C
As the credits roll a sad song starts to play

     D D7 G
And this is where the cowboy rides away

                                          C
And my heart is sinking like the setting sun

D D7 G
Setting on the things I wish I'd done

                                           C
Oh, the last goodbye's the hardest one to say

     D D7 G
And this is where the cowboy rides away

                                           C
Oh, the last goodbye's the hardest one to say

D D7 G
This is where the cowboy rides away

AWESOME TAB---KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
-TGcountry | 1/19/2004
Great job. The only thing I see is that the last note in
the intro, just before the G chord is strummed should
be the open G string and the three notes before that
should be reversed like below. Otherwise this is an
awesome tab. Thanks for the work.

I was just wondering if anyone has this song bass tabbed. I am a beginning bass player and was told that this was the best song to learn first. thanks for any help.

I play the intro slightly differently than you have it, and I don't play the D7s, but you did a good job with this song.

Great job on this one. You nailed the lead part too. Easy to pick up when it's right in front of me like that!!
