Gretchen Wilson - Redneck Woman
(Thanks to blackmanranch for the lyric corrections)

*** the walk up E-F#5-G5-G#5-A are power chords it's a simple walk,
power chords are also called Rock chords (3string chords) so DON"T
try to play them like full chords, so any time you see a chord with
     a "5" after it is usually a power chord E5 , F5, C5, D5 This is the
way that She plays it with a capo*****

   Capo 2nd fret

INtro - E

(verse 1)
E
Well I ain't never, been the Barabie Doll type,

No I can't swig that sweet champagne,
     E F#5 G5
I'd rather drink beer all night,
G#5 A (the E-F#5-G5-G#5-A just walks up)
in a tavern, or in a honkeytonk,

or on a four wheel drive tailgate,
E
I've got posters on my wall of

Skynard, Kid and Strait,
       B7
Some people look down on me,

But I don't give a rip,
    A
I stand bare-footed in my own front yard,
        ( no chord )
With a baby on my hip,

(chorus)
             E
Cause I'm a redneck woman,

I ain't no high class broad,

I'm just a product of my rasin,
       E F#5 G5 - G#5 -----walk up)
I say hey yall and hee haw,
        A
and I keep my Christmas lights on,

on my front porch all year long,
    E
And I know all the words to

every Charlie Daniels songs
    B7
So here's to all my sisters,

I've been keepin it country,
 A ( No Chords )
Let me get a big hell yea
           A A A
From the redneck girls like me,
 G E
Hell yea,

(verse 2)
E
Victoria Secret,

well they're stuff's real nice,

Oh but I can buy the same damn thing,
      E F#5 G5
On a Walmart shelf half price,
     G#5 A (the E-F#5-G5-G#5-A just walks up)
And still lok sexy, just as sexy,

as those models on T.V.
   E
No I don't need no designer tag,

To make my man want me,
B7
You might think I'm trashy,

A little too hard core,
    A
But in my neck of the woods,

I'm just the girl next door,

(chorus)
             E
Hey I'm a redneck woman,

I ain't no high class broad,

I'm just a product of my raisin,
       E F#5 G5 - G#5 -----walk up)
I say hey ya'll and yee haw,
        A
and I keep my Christmas lights on,

on my front porch all year long,
    E
And I know all the words to

every Tanya Tucker songs
    B7
So here's to all my sisters,

I've been keepin it country,
 A
Let me get a big hell yea

From the redneck girls like me,
 G E
Hell yea,

(lead - A - E - A - F# - B)

(chorus)
             E
Cause I'm a redneck woman,

    B7
So here's to all my sisters,

I've been keepin it country,
 A ( No Chords )
Let me get a big hell yea

Good job palamino, I don't have the lyrics but I think it's (Been the
Barbie Doll type) (Whether we're in a Honky Tonk) (Just a product of
my raisin') (Victoria Secret, well they're stuff's real nice) (No I
don't need no designer tag) I may be wrong , but I am country and
that is what it sounds like to me. Ya'll do good tab though
Blackmanranch!

-blackmanranch | 3/22/2004
Thanks so much blackmanranch,
you were correct...I always say I don't
hear the lyrics all that well
sometimes....I appriciate the corrections:)
-palamin0 | 3/23/2004
please explain the F#5 and G5, I'm just A beginner
-chandlerb98 | 3/24/2004
Great job!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you
4th line I think should read,
"In a tavern,or in a honky tonk"
........Just a thought...........
-rugburn | 3/24/2004
its "in a tavern, or in a honkeytonk"
and "just a product of my raise"
and "so here's to all my sisters out there keepin' it country"

quality work as usual

-angel_fluff | 3/27/2004
Its also supposed to say "and i say hey ya'll and yee haw" not hee
haw..so ya might just wanna change that there lyric

-Chschyk2006 | 4/1/2004
Great Tab!! as always,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE could someone tab out the lead, Thanks lots!!
-fenderz3 | 4/16/2004
How do you play the F#5 and G#5?
-mel_d1525 | 4/19/2004
for whoever is asking, a 5 after the chord just means to play the
chord as a barre chord, not a strum chord. so play the power chords
there.

-epi187 | 4/30/2004
I got this from her web site for the chorus: Some people look down
on me, but I don't give a rip/ I'll stand barefooted in my own front
yard with a baby on my hip/ 'cause I'm a redneck woman/ I ain't no
high class broad/ I'm just a product of my raising/ I say, 'hey
ya'll' and 'yee-haw'/ and I keep my Christmas lights on/ on my front
porch all year long/ and I know all the words to every Charlie
Daniels song/ so here's to all my sisters out there keeping it
country/ let me get a big 'hell yeah' from the redneck girls like me,
hell yeah

-canoelakechick | 5/16/2004
Gretchen Wilson is going to ruin country
music.
-WildCard76 | 5/25/2004
WildCard76- I think that Gretchen is a breath of fresh air... i love
Reckneck Woman and i'm not even all that country... maybe she'll make
it big, maybe she won't but i think she and the song is great... so
can you answer one question for me... How exactly is she going to
ruin country music??

-Lauren E | 5/27/2004
Great tab! This is a rockin song too...

I just bought the Cd. Well worth the buy. I've been waiting for a
LONG time for a real female country artist to come
out with a record. It's very refreshing. I think she's just
raised the bar folks....

-debeck | 5/28/2004
Obviously you don't live around any country folk...
IT's a product of her raisin' just like "y'all",
what do you think she's singing
about??? she's singing about her country roots,
and just like the word "foolin" and "growin"....
used very often in country music is just slang that we use...
We don't say we're raising our kids, we say we're rasin' our kids...
-palamin0 | 6/3/2004
I dont know if she will ruin country but her buddies big and rich sure as hell will
-dwh1587 | 6/4/2004
Big and Rich are here for te long haul. What's so bad about usin' the
word bling bling? Hmm? Nothing. It doesn't mean they have MTV written
on them. If they were to go on MTV the people who watch it will riot
against they songs cuz it's not rock or heavy metal or pop. They are
country to the bone! A big hell yeah for them and Gretchen

-BlugrssHUNTlver | 6/4/2004
Hell Ya thar here for tha long haul
n i dont no if big n rich are country to
the bone but they shure can make some good
music n talkin about ruinin country
yall need a wakeup call country has been
ruined by people like shania twain and
kenny chesney but in grand tradition jest
like Hank and the late great Jhonny and
Waylon. Gretchen, Big n Rich, Toby Keith,
Kid Rock (if he'll get his head out of his A** and wake up and
realize he does country best) Trace Atkins and mabey Julie Roberts
if she remebers her roots, can bring us out
of this slum and into the glorios sunlight
of what country was meant for

-Southernrocker7 | 6/6/2004
i agree that toby and julie roberts can pull country back but Kid
Rock??? He's probably sorrier than big and rich he needs to be
nowhere near country music same with big and rich and gretchen Wilson

-dwh1587 | 6/7/2004
Last I checked this was a site for guitar tabs not a lyrics site.
-jajabinx | 6/9/2004
I think that Gretchen Wilson is great and so are these tabs! Big &
Rich's new song is a very catchy tune...some people may like it and
some might not. It's your own opinion, but I think that the lyrics
are catchy, but not their voices. But great tabs and who cares about
the lyrical errors, you did what you were suppose to do and that's
TABBING or CHORDING OUT THE MUSIC! Great job!

-AMatocha | 6/10/2004
this song to the real wemon out there that cut, cute and tough and stronger than men ....rite on....
-booty | 6/10/2004
Great work.. I love this song
its my get me up an go song lol alot of fun to sing an play along as
well... but thank u for tabbing this out :) ~Sexxygurl~ ps. I was
wondering if u can tab out when it rains?? Thats the 2nd best song on
here lol Thank u an if u need the lyrics i wouldnt mind helpin if
needed be, take care :)

-sexxygurl | 6/10/2004
I think this is a good song but it'll be hard to carry on that redneck rep without eventually either putting out bad music or converting to the same old sterotype. If she can pull it off I say"HELL YEAH!"

-Jerry5150 | 6/12/2004
to the guy that said kenny chesney is ruining
county music your a moron. i'm 18 and ive got
nothing but respect and love for the classics
of waylon, george, willie, merle, and the rest
i listen to it all but kenny and others are
just the new direction country is going for
newer generations, just like every other music
genre it all evolves nothings ruined its just
evolved, theres plenty of artists to appeal to
any style of country old school or new
-jwnuk9 | 6/14/2004
Hey... great tab job!! I sang this one just the other night. Not that it makes a big difference... but its "I want a 4 weel drive tail gate". Thanks a bunch!!
-Dixie_Cowgirl_1 | 6/22/2004
hey I just saw this video on vh1. It came
on right before a rap video. This tells me
that this is not country music and that she
is indeed a crossover artist and needs to be taken out of country music.

-dwh1587 | 6/25/2004
Y'all need to go and read her bio
which is posted on her website.
This girl IS country. The lyrics for
this song are there for your reading.

I am loving the comments, being new to this site,
I wasn't aware there was such a great resource.
-coker | 6/26/2004
In case you all haven't noticed...
Country isn't what it used to be...
not the people or the lifestyle.
Naturally the music will change with it.
A lot of people from the "country" are as
"hip" and "with it" as anyone from any where in the world.
I look forward to the evolution.
-tchilton | 6/28/2004
"HELL YEAH!"

-WayneXG95 | 7/9/2004
Man some of you have no clue what country music is.
Hell I've seen Toby Keith videos on Vh1.
Does that mean he's ruining country?
I don't think so. It just means that other stations
and genres are into these artists.
Get a grip people!
-fearless | 7/10/2004
gretchen wilson and big $ rich rock! country needs a new fresh thing. i dont like sountry that much but i love those 2 bands. u can really stomp ur foot to there music. and did u guys know that one of them was from lone star hello?? there country. and also gretchen wilson singing redneck women how much more redneck could that get? u guys just need to realize that changes are good and there not gonan ruin it cuz there are alot more country artist out there but a couple new fresh songs aren't gonna hurt nothin
-Brittani | 7/28/2004
why is there chords when it is a tab site?
-leannh_2009 | 8/9/2004
ok. I thought the purpose of this was to
"make a comment" about the tab (which was
great by the way), not to whine about artists
you don't like. as long as the music of the
great country artists is still around, no one
can ruin country music.

PS
learn to hit [ENTER] at the end of each line
when you make a comment.
-bubbad | 9/7/2004
ok..with this whole country music thing, ok...if you look back on the songs from ten years ago...yes they are different because there isn't that much REAL country anymore...i just went to a rodeo and they were playing some hip hop crap...and no, it wasn't shania twain's lates hit....her first c.d. had a very country sound to it, but she prolly knew she'd make more money w/a different sound that city pple would like too...it kinda sux, cuz we don't really have OUR OWN music anymore...cept for ol' King George....so i kinda wish we still had george jones and Merle Haggard...but watcha gonna do
-lilgeetar | 10/5/2004
Well for all that are talking about how Gretchen and Big & Rich will ruin country music, let me refresh you memories.....Hank Williams was an outcast from the Grand Ole Opry. His son was labeled an outlaw and was going to be "the ruin of country music". I believe it was Charlie Rich that made the same comment about John Denver on an awards show. Bottom line, you may not like every act that comes along, but talent is talent. I would suggest you listen to Gretchen's album (especially "When I Think About Cheating") before you cast her into the burning pit. Hell, even Johnny Cash had critics.
-Ronco1964 | 11/14/2004
ok, gretchen's new song...when i think about cheatin...I LOVE IT! it brings some of the old country back..that's awesome, but big n' rich...eh, i dunno, i think save a horse ride a cowboy is a hilarious song...but then again whats w/ that song "Rollin' (The Ballad Of Big & Rich)"? i mean c'mon! and kidd rock needs to leave country music! ok, so this is what i wanna get across, maybe some of ya'll are ok w/the change in country music, but true country folk don't wanna change...we are traditional pple.lol(i'm a teenager and i aint diggin this new crap like nelly and tim mcgraw)
-lilgeetar | 11/25/2004
hello every one this is one of my faverot songs ever to be but the person who did this is totally wrong cuz my song goes differntly so it should say playgerism by whoever rote this song because mye being gretchen wilson says that is not how i rote it.........
Hell yea and yee haw

-Ally12 | 11/28/2004
Well ally12, If you are gretchen maybe you should use some of that new money and get some spelling lessons.
-gendollar | 12/6/2004
I love Gretchen.....such a fresh sound after all the Faith Hills clones
-sharustle | 1/12/2005
it is I'll stand! You put I stand!
-leannh_2009 | 1/30/2005
i need the intro for this song i am a beginer the first riff any help doc2220018@aol.com any help
-samdoc | 2/4/2005
to all ya'll who say shania and kenny chesney and big and rich and gretchen are fixin' to ruin country music, they can't be that bad because they have a record deal and they are sellin' stuff!and i think htat part of making a tab is getting the lyrics right...soo (here's to all my sisters out there keepin it country) and raisin' is a word...to the people in the south at least...and one more thing gretchen is definatley a hard core redneck woman! and she'll make it...so hell yea ya'll!
