When I Think About Cheating - Gretchen Wilson

Intro: A D E A D A E

      A
I've never done anything
A7 D
That would ever bring a tear to your eye
      E
I've never crossed the line
                       A Fdim
Or needed an alibi to cover up a lie
A A7 D
But darlin I'll admit, there's been times when I could have
         E
But the thing that kept me strong
                                A E
Is the one thing that is always on my mind

Chorus:
                    D
When i think about cheating
                        A
I just think about you leavin
                        Bm
And how my world would fall to pieces
                            E
If I tossed your love away
               A A/C# D
Even when I'm tempted by some stranger
                     C#m F#m
Oh there's never any danger
                       Bm A/C# D
I just think about you le---av---ing
                    D A
When I think about cheating

E

             A
There was a time in Abilene
     A7 D
When he said all the things I wanted to hear
        E
It was hard to turn him down
                                        A Fdim
Between the champagne and the sound of whispers in my ear
A
But it just took one
A7 D A/C# Bm
Two-step with someone and I was missing you
E
He never had a chance, cause I broke up the dance
A E
Before the song was through

REPEAT CHORUS

              A A/C# D
And when I'm tempted by some stranger
                     C#m F#m
Oh there's never any danger
                       Bm A/C# D
I just think about you le---av---ing
                    D A
When I think about cheating

The Fdim chord sounds more accurate played like this:

E----------0--------------
B-----0-3------------------
G----1---------------------
D---3----------------------
A--2-----------------------
e--------------------------

also, I would play a A7 (x02020) instead of a A/C# during the verses. Otherwise, looks good!

sorry to say but that Fdim you have there is wrong... thats not a Fdim chord at all... you can play it from low to high...
e--|--|--|4--|
a--|--|2-|---|
d--|--|--|3--|
g--|--|1-|---|
b--|--|--|---|
e--|--|--|---|
1 2 3 4 ----fret

or you can you use the same chord pattern just start it off in the 6th fret, or the 9th fret...

what you have is not an Fdim
E----------0--------------
B-----0-3------------------
G----1---------------------
D---3----------------------
A--2-----------------------
e--------------------------

an Fdim has to consist of an F B D Aflat for notes.. you have a B F# G# EITHER B OR a D AN E...

It sounds pretty good but there is one part during the chorus, and it sounds like there should be a F#m before the Bm.
-srvfan04 | 5/4/2005
A diminished chord is all minor third intervals and can be named for any note in the chord.

when she thinks about cheatin shes sure nough thinkin bout ole jimbocephus lemme tell ya.
-jimbocephus | 5/10/2005
Nice Job! The Fdim is a little weird. But I think the comments have the correct way to play it.

Great tab!!!
The A/C# sounds great... nothing needs to change... and whoever said that the Fdim is not an Fdim the way it is shown is wrong. There are 3 notes that make an Fdim and they are all shown (F-G#-B)... it doesn't matter the inversion... great job on the tablature... I prefer the Fdim the way it is shown!!! Sounds true to the song!

Great job, Shantel! I like the A to A/C# when I sing and play it. I always love your tabs because you always happen to tab the songs I always want to play.

Thanks!!
