When I was a young girl,had me a cowboy
wasn't much to look at, just a free ramblin' man
But that was a long time, and no matter how I try
The years just flow by like a broken-down dam
(Chorus)
There's flies in the kitchen, I can hear em, they’re buzzin’
But I ain't done nothin' since I woke up today
I the hell can a person goes to work in the morning
Come home in the evenin' and have nothin' to say
(Chorus)

The second line of the chorus works well with G F D G.
I also play D7 instead of D in the verses. -spellman | 10/25/2004 | just for the record, DMB was covering John Prine, not the other way around -durrenaj | 9/8/2005 | That's right. Dave Matthew's Band copies everybody. I say copy, not cover. Dave Matthews has a voice that sounds like someone is drowning him. He ruins all the songs that he covers. John Prine's better. But, good tab, though. I have a live recording of this song. John Prine, of course, he's singing it as a duet with someone else. -macg1 | 11/13/2005 | He is singing with Bonnie Raitt -uschuff | 11/15/2005 |
