thanks for the comment at the top, tay. and for "thissitesucks", i dont think youre thinking of the same "Ghost Riders In The Sky as I'm thinking of. Play this tab out. Notice that it goes with the melody of the verse, the solo in the song does.

Well then learn this first, learn it in 3 or so other positions on the fretboard and then improvise on top of that ... that's how the Outlaws came up with their version, improvision around this main melody line ... everytime I saw the Outlaws do it live it was different,
