IF HEAVEN WASN'T SO FAR AWAY
Justin Moore
Album: TBD
Submitted by: Christopher R.
Capo 2nd Fret
Intro (A) (A) (D) (D)
(A) Every day I drive to work ac(D)ross Flint River bridge
A (A) hundred yards from the spot where (D) me and grandpa fished
There's a (E) piece of his old fruit stand on the (D) side of Sawmill Road
He'd (E) be there peelin' peaches if it was (D) twenty years ago
(C#m) And (E) what I wouldn't (D) give
To (C#m) ride around in (E) that old truck with (D) him (E)
If (A) heaven wasn't so far away
I'd (D) pack up the kids and go for the day
(E) Introduce them to their grandpa
(D) Watch 'em laugh at the (E) way he talks
I'd (A) find my long lost cousin John
The (D) one we left back in Vietnam
(E) Show him a picture of his daughter now
(D) She's a doctor and (E) he'd be proud
Then (F#m) tell him we'd be (E/G#) back in a couple of (D) days
In the (F#m) rear view mirror (E/G#) we'd all watch him (D) wave
And (F#m) losing them wouldn't (E/G#) be so hard to (D) take
If heaven wasn't so (E) far a(A)way
I'd hug all three of those girls we lost
From the class of 99
I'd find my bird dog Bo
And take him huntin one more time
I'd ask Hank why he took those pills
Back in 53'
And Janis to sing the second verse of
Me and Bobby Mcgee
Sit on a cloud and visit for a while
It'd do me good just to see them smile
If (A) heaven wasn't so far away
I'd (D) pack up the kids and go for the day
(E) Introduce them to their grandpa
(D) Watch 'em laugh at the (E) way he talks
I'd (A) find my long lost cousin John
The (D) one we left back in Vietnam
(E) Show him a picture of his daughter now
(D) She's a doctor and (E) he'd be proud
Then (F#m) tell him we'd be (E/G#) back in a couple of (D) days
In the (F#m) rear view mirror (E/G#) we'd all watch him (D) wave
And (F#m) losing them wouldn't (E/G#) be so hard to (D) take
If heaven wasn't so (E) far
If (F#m) heaven wasn't so (E/G#) far
If (D) heaven wasn't so (E) far a(B)way
Fade Out...

I'm a big Rhett Akins fan so it's always hard to hear his songs done by somebody else...but i'll actually admit that Justin did a great job with this. Glad the song will finally be heard since radio stations never played Rhett's version
-denalitwinkie2s | 2/16/2011 | The "F#m" chords in the verses of this song should be "C#m." Other than that, it seems pretty spot on. BTW... if you want the sound of the Intro lead effect, slide the center finger of your "A" chord back and forth from Fret 1 to Fret 2, (all relative to capo, of course). -PyoorCntry | 5/3/2011 |
