Keith Urban - God's Been Good To Me

Intro - G - Cadd9 - G - D - G = 2x's
        mmm mmm mm mm mm

(verse 1)
                G Cadd9 G
Well I can't believe, I'm sittin here today,
                             D
Pickin my banjo with a big smile on my face,
         G Cadd9 G-Cadd9
Writin' new words to a old school melody,
                           D G
There ain't no doubt that God's been good to me,

(verse 2)
                G Cadd9 G
Oh the sun is shinin' on down in Tennesse,
                                  D
Right now I"m right where I wanna be,
                G Cadd9 G-Cadd9
Never felt so loved, so peaceful and so free,
                               D G
Hey there ain't no doubt that God's been good to me,

(chorus)
                Cadd9 G
Cause he put me smack dab in the middle of paradise,
        D Cadd9 G
In the heart of the city where my dreams come alive,
             Cadd9 G
Everything I have and everything I see,
Cadd9 G
   It's just another reminder,
      D G - G - Cadd9 - G - D - G
That God's been good to me, mmm mmm mm mm mm

(verse 3)
              G Cadd9 G
This golden road's been long, sometimes I've lost my way,
                                            D
I've been down some darken detours weigh'n heavy on my face,
          G G/B Cadd9 G
With the devil and my chain like a love don't set me free,
Cadd9 G D G
Halle--lujah GOd's been good to me,

(chorus)
                Cadd9 G
Cause he put me smack dab in the middle of paradise,
        D Cadd9 G
In the heart of the city where my dreams come alive,
             Cadd9 G
Everything I have and everything I see,
Cadd9 G
   It's just another reminder,
      D F
That God's been good to me,

(lead - G - Cadd9 - G - F - Cadd9 - G - Cadd9 - G - F - Cadd9 - G -

                Cadd9 F G
Cause he put me smack dab in the middle of para-dise,
        D Cadd9 G
In the heart of the city where my dreams come alive,
             Cadd9 G
Everything I have and everything I see,
Cadd9 G
   It's just another reminder,

                    G D G - Cadd9

Love Keith's new CD! Especially this song.

But on the chorus, isn't it:

"Cause he put me smack dab in the middle of paradise." ?

I think you have:

"I could've been..."

Just a thought..

otherwise great post!!

-palamin0 | 9/27/2004

-riff_freak | 11/9/2004

-palamin0 | 11/10/2004

-burkina | 11/27/2004
by the way I appreciate how you
keep checking the comments on this song
great song and a great tab
-burkina | 11/27/2004
You can play C, but Cadd9 gives a little different, usually richer sound
-ursula | 11/28/2004
a lot of times like she said it adds flavor chords like C, Em, Am, I may substitute the Cadd9, Em7, Am7 to add flavor especially if you're only doing the tune acoustically...:)
-palamin0 | 11/28/2004
hey, I'm new to playing guitar, but love the song. What is the fingering for a Cadd9 chord? Thanks!
-jessilane | 2/12/2005
Sorry! I saw that the q was asked (and answered) already above! Guess that's what I get for not reading! Thanks!
-jessilane | 2/12/2005
I've been down some darken detours weigh'n heavy on my face,

Sound like it might be.

I've been down some darken detours leaning heavy on my faith,

-slanders | 2/15/2005
yea I didn't have the liner notes with the lyrics since I tab'd the cd before it was released so I 99% of the time get the lyrics wrong ;)
take care

Here are the words from the cd: This golden roads been long, sometimes I've lost my way. I've been down some darkened detours, leanin heavy on my faith. But where the devil had me chained, Lord you love done set me free.
