I know this one's been done many times but I have my own take on it to offer.
I've blended the 2 guitar parts in some places to make it more fun to play solo.
There are a couple of licks to fatten it up.
The question about the A chords in this piece is "Should I play A and Asus2?"
The answer is "Yes." Both chords work nicely throughout the piece. Transitioning
from one to the other within a few beats, adds huge texture to the end of the
phrases. Virtually every time you land on the A, it can change to the Asus2.
If you play the A in a D chord formation, all second fret, instead of the
traditional 3 string bar, it's very easy to lift the middle finger and go
from A to Asus2. Careful in the chorus though, it's all Asus2.
The E/G# is a tough one to master, so you can play a G#min bar there instead...
the sheet music shows it as a G#min. Also, thwe B chords are a bit complex.
At times a B5, a Badd4. But make it easy on yourself and always finger the B
bar chord, then just play the appropriate strings...but really, the B works
all the way through.
The verse phrases resolve in some form of C#m-B-A. To make these more
interesting, I've worked out some picking patterns, modeled after the second
guitar parts, to spice them up. The notes in the C#m are played in the
standard 4th fret bar chord pattern...keep that index finger across all
strings until it goes to the B. If there's some interest,
I'll post a video lesson that shows how I play it.
