For the G and D chords i am using alternate versions of them. Here they are:
     G D
e|---2---2---|
B|---3---3---|
G|---2---2---| Also you can mute out the open strings when you play them it
D|---4---2---| doesnt change much of the sound.
A|---5---0---|
E|---0---4---|

Intro/riff between lines.

e|---------------------------------|
B|---2/7--7\5--5\3--3\2--2p0-------|
G|---2/7--7\6--6\4--4\2--2p0-------| G D
D|---------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------|

G D (riff)
Well, I know there’s a reason
G D (riff)
And I know there’s a rhyme
G D
We were meant to be together
 Em - Asus4 (riff)
That’s why
G D (riff)
We can roll with the punches
G D (riff)
We can stroll hand in hand
G D
And when I say it’s forever
   Em - Asus4
You understand

G
That you’re always in my heart
                  D
You’re always on my mind
                          G
And when it all becomes too much
                 D
You’re never far behind
                        Bm
And there’s no one that comes close to you
     F#m E
Could ever take your place
            G (riff)
‘Cause only you can love me this way

Verse
Chorus
Instrumental: A Bm(x3) A

This looks good, however, I'm sure by watching the video that he is using drop D tuning. Just a suggestion.
