INTRO

F#m7
 Lately I've been noticing
          D F#m7 D
I say the same things he used to say,
F#m7 D F#m7 D
And I even find myself acting the very same way.
         E
I tap my fingers on the table to the rhythm in my soul,
      Dsus2
And I jingle the car keys when I'm ready to go.
       E
When I look in the mirror, he's right there in my eyes,
        Dsus2
Starin' back at me and I realize:

            A E/Ab
The older I get, the more I can see,
            F#m D
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me.
       A E/Ab
And he did the best that he could,
           F#m D Bm7
And I only hope when I have my own family
     A/Db D E F#m7 D F#m7 D
That every day I see a little more of my father in me.

           F#m7 D F#m7 D
There were times I thought he was bein' just a little bit hard on me.
          F#m7
But now I understand he was makin' me
  D F#m7 D
Become the man he knew that I could be.
        E
In everything he ever did, he always did with love,
        Dsus2
And I'm proud today to say I'm his son.
          E
When somebody says 'I hope I get to meet your dad',
       Dsus2
I just smile and say 'You already have'.

            A E/Ab
The older I get, the more I can see,
            F#m D
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me.
       A E/Ab
And he did the best that he could,
           F#m D Bm7
And I only hope when I have my own family
     A/Db D E D E/D D
That every day I see a little more of my father in me.
           A E/Ab
He's in my eyes, my heart, my soul,
             F#m
My hands, my pride,
           D A
And when I feel alone and I think I can't go on,
                   E/Ab F#m D F#m7
I hear him sayin' 'Son, you'll be alright,
     E F#m7
Everything's gonna be alright'.

Great job. What an ear...

Try playing it with a capo. If you capo on the second fret it will change the F#m to an Em.
