When You Say Nothing At All
Keith Whitley

tabbed by Matellmon

Capo 1

G D C D G D C D
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
G D C D G D C D
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
C D
Try as I may I could never explain
G D C D
What I hear when you don't say a thing

Chorus:
G D C D
The smile on your face let's me know that you need me
G D C D
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
G D C D C D
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
C D G D C D
You say it best when you say nothing at all

Verse 2:
All alone I can hear people talking outloud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine

(Chorus twice)

Look, you should be pretty positive on the selection of your chords,
the tuning of your guitar and the acuracy of the lyrical content
before presenting them to a community that will judge it.You can
mess up alot of things doing stuff like this, but in the process you
totally desecrate the work of one of musics true artists.
-rromero | 3/4/2003
Sounds good, but sounds almost like don williams good ole boys like me. other then that good job .

-countryroads | 6/23/2003
shadow is right, the lyrics are "without saying a word, you light up THE DARK" good tab though :)
-Sacajamore | 7/4/2003
look, it's close enough that guitarist like me can work with and perfect on so great job. And if any other guitarist has trouble with altering this tabbing to his or her style or comparing it to the way it sounds than they can't play a guitar that well.

-bug | 8/29/2003
Great tab, right on, anyone worth playing guitar has there own style of playing which will alter it. The chords or correct so lay off, this tab is great. if you know the words, sing them right, don't hack on someone who had the balls to put down the tab and messed up a couple words.

-ronbo | 8/9/2004

The capo does go on the first fret in this song. However the key is not G maj it should be D maj. There is no C maj chord. Although you could still sing in this key cause the progression is still correct. Just do the same progression but in the Key of D maj. This is how the recording is.
Thanks
-jtannillo | 2/3/2006
The song is in Eb on recording. So with capo 2 the progression would be D A G. Thanks for the tab. It helped with the progression but I had to figure out the key but hey noone's perfect. If I knew how I would post a lot of great tabs but I don't know how to post them to the site. If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

In order to post of tab you have to have the premium membership which is about 4 bucks a month. After you sign up you just click on Submit a tab and go from there.

this is aweosme thanks

Awesome tab
-brokensoul | 2/21/2009
Way off, and I'll tell you how. It's in Eb, which means the chords in capo 1 are D-A-G, replacing G-D-C equally. Also, the lyrics are, "ALL DAY LONG I can hear people talking out loud", not "all alone". Do you know the song?
-proarchives | 11/27/2010
Just because the record is in E# doesn't mean a tab in D is wrong. You adjust your key to fit your voice. If you hear another artist doing the same song its very likely it'll be in a different key. As for the lyric mistake, we're all human if you don't like the words sing the ones you do. It's called originality.
Great Job on the tab, Chords are correct.
