Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be
Kenny Chesney
Lucky Old Sun
Here's a little lick for the intro, it also sounds cool if you just pick around
with D...do whatever you like
e--5--2--0-------3p2-3---------
D----------3------------------
G------------------------------
D-----------------------------
A------------------------------
E------------------------------
This song sounds way better if you can finger pick it...if not, strumming is fine.
D A
Like an empty bottle washed up by the waves
G A
Like an ol' schooner slippin' slowly to its grave
D A
Like ghosts of old sailors caught somewhere in time
G A
Like a lone palm that's watched the world unwind, I got
G A D
Nowhere to go and nowhere to be
G A D
Trinidad Charlie on a stool next to me
G A D
Readin' his book about the have and have-nots
G A
In between chapters, we'd take another shot
Bm A G
One by one, we'd slide from reality
G A D
Nowhere to go, and nowhere to be.
D A
There's jerk chicken, grillin' on the grill
G A
It sure feels good for some time to be still
D A
Even if it's only for a little while
G A
The sight of those sails in the wind make me smile, when I got
G A D
Nowhere to go and nowhere to be
G A D
Trinidad Charlie on a stool next to me
G A D
Readin his book about the have and have-nots
G A
In between chapters we'd take another shot
Bm A G
One by one we'd slide from reality
G A D
With nowhere to go and nowhere to be
Bm A G
Days turn into night
Bm A G
When you're stuck in still life, and you got
G A D
Nowhere to go and nowhere to be
G A D
Trinidad Charlie on a stool next to me
G A D
Readin' his book about the have and have-nots
G A
In between chapters we'd take another shot
Bm A G
One by one we'd slide from reality
G A D
With nowhere to go and nowhere to be
Thats what I could pick up from the song. It sounds good to me.
Although Im still questionable about the D at the end of the Chorus.
Let me know if any of you can notice anything different. Enjoy!!

1st of all great job and many thank yous. Now this may sound dumb but how do you pick vs strumming 2 years experince, playing guitar sorry, but greatly appreciated. -islandcowboy79 | 10/19/2008 | It definitely takes some practice. I learned how to fingerpick with Green Day's "Good Riddance" (Time of Your Life). Patience is a big key also. I usually use my thumb, index, middle and ring fingers for picking the strings. It may be easier to start off by picking in a downward motion, like a downstroke for strumming. Once you get used to that, you can start introducing all kinds of improvs, like hammer ons and slides. If you'd like, I have a few videos on myspace of me singin this song and a few others. You may be able to watch my right hand and pick something up from it. It's the best I can do for teaching you something.

there not great quality, and it's actually a little hard to see my fingers moving, now that i watched it again. But check it out, you might see something. -islandboy1270 | 10/19/2008 | Nice Job Bro, Bravo, Check out The Chords I put together on Way Down Here -gui88tar | 10/21/2008 | Good Job Man!!, I love this song, but you are right, the last cord of the corus dues not sound just right.
