Somebody Take Me Home - Kenny Chesney
Album: The Road And The Radio
Written by: Radney Foster/Randy Rogers

**Capo 3**

Intro: G G/B C (x4)

G G/B C
Same old bedroom floor
G G/B C
Same old empty sheets
G G/B C
I hate this haunted bed
G G/B C
So down here is where I sleep

G G/B C (x2)

G G/B C
I'm trying to find a place
G G/B C
To hide what you have left
G G/B C
Some things never change
G G/B C
My heart hasnt yet

Chorus:
D Em C
I dont want to go out tonight
        G D
Yea but I can't be alone
D Em C
Standing underneath this broke street light
       D Em
Can't somebody take me home
       D G
Can't somebody take me home

G G/B C (x2)

G G/B C
The hope that we had left
G G/B C
Wrapped around your ring
G G/B C
That river just rolled on by
G G/B C
Man I watched it sink

Chorus:
D Em C
I dont want to go out tonight
        G D
Yea but I can't be alone
D Em C
Standing underneath this broke street light
       D Em
Can't somebody take me home
       D
Can't somebody take me
C
Outta this bar, outta this heartache
Em D
outta this town that just keeps breakin down
D
Keeps breakin down

G G/B C (x4)

Chorus:
D Em C
I dont want to go out tonight
        G D
Yea but I can't be alone
D Em C
Standing underneath this broke street light
       D Em
Can't somebody take me home

               D C
I dont want to go out tonight
        G D
Yea but I can't be alone
D Em C
Standing underneath this broke street light
       D Em
Can't somebody take me home
       D C
Can't somebody take me home
                   G
Won't you take me home

G G/B C (x4)

Randy's vesion sounds better, you can't do this song without the sweet sound of a fiddle played by Brady Black in the background

who in the world let kenny record this song..he butchered it....Randy Rodgers does such a better job
-cotton9087 | 11/13/2005
This sounds like a Van Halen song. This
dude has totally abandonded country music.
-WildCard76 | 11/14/2005
Sorry man, i guess you are just in with the real country music scean that they have goin on downin Texas. Listen to Randy Rogers version and tell me you don't like the song. Randy's version is better.
-pk1013 | 11/14/2005
Randy's rich now. (As if he wasn't gonna be alone...)

More power to him.
-bytheradio | 11/14/2005
I love this song. Randy Rogers' version is
killer! I just don't like it when pop acts
like Kenny redo great songs, and make them
sound horrible.
-WildCard76 | 11/14/2005
Ok gotcha man, thats cool
-pk1013 | 11/14/2005
yay for randy's song getting notice like that from a "big" name, but damn, talk about a crappy version of the song, way to ruin it in that predictable nashville way -- randy rogers version will always be better, esp with that fiddle
-txmav03 | 11/16/2005
Seems like everybody ruins Randy's songs, CCR couldn't handle "This Time Around", and now Kenny totally screwed this one. Oh well, at least this song will make it to the national radio in Feburary, a little respect long due for Randy.
-HonkyTonkKid | 11/19/2005
I think y'all are being alittle hard on it myself. I would rather hear Randy's version but this aint that bad. And I liked Ragweeds vesion of "This Time Around".
-Malcolm61 | 11/22/2005
I'd agree, Ragweeds version of this time around is just as good. Rogers and Canada co-wrote the song, it's just each of their own interpretations of how they want it to sound. as for this song, first of all ot the top it says randy rogers wrote it, and im pretty damn sure Radney Foster wrote it. But Rogers version with the fiddle and raspy voice kicks kenny's ass.

Lets just all put an end to this conversation and say what we all really wanna say..... Kenny Chesney sucks...(literally these days haha)
-CrossCanadianTX | 11/29/2005
nice work Shantel..
-ermapoop | 12/1/2005
To avoid these comments going on forever can we just end the "Randy Rogers version is better" bandwagon? Randy will be getting a big huge check due to this version of the song so I doubt he'll be complaining. You all have made your point...please go to a new topic! :o)
-Shantel | 12/1/2005
Love the song. Good job on it.
-guitarman211 | 1/27/2006
I haven't heard Randy Rogers' version, but I love Kenny Chesney's music. And he isn't gay. I really like Radney Foster's songwriting. He wrote "Sweet & Wild" which is a song Dierks Bentley and Sarah Buxton did on Dierks' Greatest Hits album. But anyway, Kenny Chesney is cool. If you disagree, listen to his version of "Some People Change." It is way better than Montgomery Gentry's Version of it.
