Tall timber, rushing streams, my home has it (E)all
My summer job, keep the garden (B7) hoed
Just a lad, barefoot on a gravel (E) road

Do your chores early,  then do them (E) again
And everbody carried his own (B7) load

(E) No worry, the big war was far (A) away
My uncles, they fought, so I'd have (E) today
Thanks to  the bravery others (B7) showed
So I could be barefoot on a gravel (E) road

(E) I've made a lot of foot-prints, and had my (A) fill
Many times I have passed this cemetery (E) hill
The wagon is moving again, and this time I am the (B7) load
A lad, no longer barefoot on a gravel (E) road.
