Sawlogs frozen to the ground

Each step sound like shotguns in the snow

No other people are around

Fifteen minutes outside,
Then Forty-five in
Mountain air would freeze your hide
Warm up, then outside again

Who the hell is the boss 
That dreamed up this miserable play
They should get the toss
We won't live another day

That was fifty-five years ago
Working on log-grade lumber recovery stint
If had knew what I now know
There's no way I would have went

Trying to roll logs froze to the ground
Each step, a shot-gun sound
Guessing lumber recovery at 43 below
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go
