calendar and was hanging in the basement of our old home place, Garrison’s Tree

How Hard it is  to Let Him Go

(E) Fold his childhood in your heart
With (A) life before him, he’s embarked.
To the (E) world–of (B) men.
Hold your love for him (E) apart
from his new (A) reserve.
(A) Don’t let it (E) show,
(E) Don’t let him (B) know
(B) How hard it is to let him (E) go.

(E) Keep his childhood tucked away
Give your (A) love room to grow
(E) He must grow apart from (B) you-
(E) If your love but give him room
He will (A) find it very soon.---

if he’s never pressed to (B) stay.
So never let him (E) know;
