Just Passing Through


(C) It is getting colder, winter’s moving (G7) in
The red tail hawk rides the fading thermals
And the ice clouds are back (C) again
The old man slowly (G7) pencils in his (C) journal

(C) Squirrels stashing acorns in tree (G7) nests,
Dumb blue jay hides his under falling leaves,
And the junco never seems to (C) rest.
The old man begins to (G7) ponder bringing in the (C) sheaves

Chorus:
(C) The icicles are forming,
And the fire is nearly (G7) out;
It will all be over by (G) morning
Another pioneer, gone without a (C) shout

(C) Red-sky sunsets, that’s the way it (G7) is
Animals move at a slower pace,
The wind blasts through log walls with a (C) hiss
And the old man pulls the heavy (G7) comfort closer to his (C) face.
