(D) He'd been farming for sixty(G)-years
(G) Began with mules and a moldboard (D) plow
(A) Fighting the weather, and singing songs no one would (D) hear
(G) Weather worn... face (A)  like leather; but making it (D) somehow.

(D) Well, the mules place was taken by the John Deere (G) Gee 
(G) Two row corn picker...hand shucking no (D) more.
(A) He holds up one finger as he drives toward (D) me
(G) Last two corn rows; (A) "The one's I been lookin (D) for

(D) Next week will see his farm (G) sale
(G) Tractors and wagons and tools and (D) more
(A) Memories and dreams of past years will (D) wail
(G) Yes (A) The Day He'd Been Lookin (D) for

(D) Now the bidders are all gone....nothing to (G) do
(G) And He is sitting there, barely moving the (D) swing
(A) The rain- crow breaks into it's evening (D) coo
(G) And He wonders, (A) what will I do come (D) spring

(D) Now I know He and the Gee are out there ridin (G) easy
(G) Like many times (D) before
