Shearin Sheep Today

We (G) are going to shear sheep (C) today,
Thats what I heard my grandmother (G) say
They gathered them into (D7) pens,
And the Shearers had their (G) way

Little (G) sheep were crying and (C) bleating
So afraid of what was going (G) one
They ran to their (D7) mamas
When the shearing was (G) done

Oh it didnt take very (C) long
To rob them of their (G) coats
And they stood there,  (D7) shakin
It seemed so very (G) wrong

Shearing was a necessary oper-(C)-ation
As the folks often exp-(G) lained 	 
But it left a permanent (D7) impression
On this little boy, just the (G) same

It happened every (C) summer
As best I can re-(G) call
The wool from their (D7) bodies
Gave clothes for us (G) all

So I guess it was ok after (C) all
To treat them that a-(C) way
But as a little boy lookin (D7) in
I wished not to see that (G) day

Yes, we are shearin sheep (C) today
Thats what I heard Grandma (G) say
If it is all the same to (D7) you
I think I will stay (G) away
