Was a shoemaker in Pulaski there

He had a little shop

On the west side of the square

We would watch him at work

Thru the big window of the store

His long apron with shoulder straps

Shiny machines and leather galore

He would repair the uppers
And maybe put on new heels
And add rawhide boot strings
Pulley straps from overhead wheels

I remember that fresh-leather smell
As we entered the shop from time to time
To get back our boots or shoes
That cost us maybe one thin dime

Those were the days
In Dad's Uncle Roy's Shoe Shop
Shoes and boots were repaired
Dad's visit to Uncle Roy, meant a lot
