We would (F) go out to play on (C) whim
And (G) come home (G) when we could barely (C)

Our (F) foks cared, but they seldom (C) worried
We (G) were always within a whistle or a (C) shout
With (F) chores to do, we never (C) tarried
Getting (G) home by supper (G) time, we worried (C) about

Nightime (F) you could hear across the meadows and (C) fields
The lone (G) crow…………..(C) caw
Hear the (F) barn door slam shut (C) sealed
The (G) hoot owl (G) up in the hay (C) mow

Cows (F) a-mooin, pigs a (C) squealin
Mom (G) rattlin dishes in (G) kitchen (C) sink
It (F) was a quiet, peaceful (C) feelin
Dad at (G) the well , pullin a (G) long cold (C) drink

Those (F) were the country sounds (C) back then
I (G) wish I could hear them (C) again
Sitting (F) on the porch with a brand new (C) pup
Dreamin (G) about when (G) we grow (C) up
