C Dm
Ain't it just like one of us to pick up the phone and call after a couple of drinks
    G C
And say "How've you been" and wonderin' that maybe you've been thinkin' 'bout me
    C Dm
And somewhere in the conversation, an old familiar invitation always arrives
          G C
And I may hate myself in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight

C Dm
Everyone's known someone that they just can't help but want
    G C
And even though they just can't make it work out, well the want to lingers on
   C Dm
So once again we wind up in each other's arms pretending that it's right
          G C
And I may hate myself in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight

            F C
I know it's wrong but it ain't easy moving on.
                 D G F F/D G
So why can't two friends remember the good times once again

Fiddle & steel solo

Key Change to C#
  C# D#m
Tomorrow when I wake up, I'll be feeling a little guilty, a little sad.
G# C#
Thinkin' how it used to be before everything went bad.
  C# D#m
I guess that's what it is and only late night calls like this that we try to find
          G# C#
And I may hate myself in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight

          G# C#
And I may hate myself in the morning but I'm gonna love you tonight

Thank God Lee Ann has gone back to her traditional style. She sounds so much better doing songs like this rather than "Ashes by Now" and the pop stuff on her last album.

I have to agree with you Shantel - I was
afraid to listen to this to tab it but was
refreshed by the old style sound.

Does anyone know if this is an original or did another artist record it in the 70s or 80s?

This is an awesome song... not only does it sound production and writing style-wise like good traditonal country... her performance is amazing. Once again glad to see a artist going traditional.

This a new song written by a guy named cole deggs. He is a songwriter for guys like kenny chesney and others. He just got signed by sony. my wife works with his mom and I have a copy of his demo and it is incredible. His version of this song is 10x better than womacks. be on the look out for him.

Katie's right! Lee Ann is tops in my book. This song was written for a woman to sing and she is just great at it!
