Intro: E Eb (3x)
(A) Here's the (F#m) face of (C#m) trouble (A)
It's the face I (E) wear (D) (C#m (I think))
And it (D) may in(C#m)vite (F#m) you in
But I (D) won't go there
Here's a working model
That generates despair
And this baby cranks it out
And it will take you out
And I won't care
(The lyrics say 'It's a beauty' right here, but I don't remember that from the tape I have)
It's the mark of someone
Who's beyond repair
He'll refuse to help yourself
Thinking only of himself
Though he isn't by himself
Well it's your job now
It's the conversation
We're about to share
And it's full of twists and turns
Half-truths and vague concerns
From one who never learns
And I never learn
Here's the face of trouble

This post is actually the work of Sweet-Afton23. THANKS! :-) -bugamile | 10/20/2003 | Thx for putting this up, bugamile, because I probably never would've gotten around to it myself. Does anyone know who this song is actually by? I looked it up and it's an NC cover, but in all the places I found it (the lyrics, anyway) it was only credited to the songwriters. That's why I didn't post it myself, because I wanted to put it under the actual artist. Anyone know? -sweet-afton23 | 10/25/2003 | You sure about that? Like I said, this is an NC cover, and I posted the lyrics I found from the original ppl. I admit, Nickel Creek did change some stuff, but I think for the most part it's pretty accurate.
-sweet-afton23 | 10/30/2003 | The Song is originally by Jon Brion. The same guy who wrote the Magnolia Soundtrack. -Focusdude | 10/31/2003 | This song's actual name is "Trouble" & was written by Jon Brion & appears on his cd Meaningless. Great record - if you can find it! Currently, it's out of print. I'm at work so I don't have the cd with me but I'll bring it & post what lyrics are wrong. Jon's produced folks like Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, & appears on a number of songs on Sean Watkins' 26 Miles. He plays every Friday at an LA club called Largo. NC is obviously greatly influenced by him. They've done Trouble for over 2 years now - since they recorded it with Glen Phillips for the Mutual Admiration Society record, which has still not been released. There's a great song called Sake of the World on the Aware 9 compilation available at awarestore.com. Jon Brion produced, as I recall. Does that help? -moochie | 1/7/2004 | The Glen Phillips version is in B.
