Wake in the morning to a clean country breeze
Working real hard at this life of ease

Bare feet hit the cool hardwood floor
Get a family prepared to head out the door

A  long goodbye kiss from the man she loves
A prayer to keep him safe to somewhere above

It’s a day in the life of a southern girl

Fishing, horses, trucks and boots
T-shirt and jeans at the turkey shoot
Long hair, soft skin, tanned in the sun
So full of life, so full of fun
If I could be anyone in the world
I’d still be a southern girl

Strumming her  guitar on the front porch swing
In harmony with crickets as they sing

Kids fed and bathed and put to bed
A life long lover’s kisses upon her head

Laying beside him between crisp sheets
What better life could there ever be
