Pat Green - Baby Doll
CD: Lucky Ones
Written By: Pat Green & Rob Thomas
Tabbed By: Jason Marbach (please email all questions to smoothie7745 at hotmail.com

**Note: don't be fooled during the chorus at the line "close your eyes", that
minor you hear is the bass playing a minor note to start the progression, and
in other places in the song, the bass will alternately play an "A" and a "D"
note in transition from Dsus back to G (esp. in the verses), but the chords
stay as I wrote it here...it's excellent musicianship (by Pat and his boys on
the album), but the rhythm chords are as listed.

You'll almost definitely have to listen to the song to understand the tab...it's
easy, but complex...if that makes any sense...

-syzygyassociate | 10/26/2004
Thanks for the feedback!

Do you mean an Am outside of the ones I have in
there already...?
-Smoothie7745 | 10/27/2004
This song was written by Pat and Rob Thomas. Isn't that the Matchbox 20 guy?
-amarillobound | 11/16/2004
yep, he's the lead singer for Matchbox 20,
although he appears to be doing a lot more
writing for other people these days. He
wrote/co-wrote a couple songs for Willie
Nelson's album, "The Great Divide", plus a
couple others, I believe. Great songwriter, I
love his work. And of course, Pat speaks for
himself...
-Smoothie7745 | 11/17/2004
I think the chorus should be G -- am7 instead of G -- Dsus4. However, Dsus4 works too (the note Pat hits is in both chords). I believe he plays an Am7 live.

The main lines of the chorus sound like:
G-D-Am-C to me . . .
-jpranger19 | 1/11/2005
Thanks, I appreciate it, I'll check in to how he plays it live...

I do know that there's no minor in that spot on the album, but I haven't seen him play this song live yet, so I couldn't say about live...I appreciate the heads up, I'll look into it.

-peaceallover | 6/24/2005
Thanks, and yes, Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20
-Smoothie7745 | 6/27/2005
great tab man perfect job
-yeahright35 | 7/12/2005
Hey yall. As far as i can tell this isnt how he plays it. I seen him live and he wasnt using a capo and main chords he was using were E major and C major. not bashing in any way, just lettin ya know.
-fender_man2k2 | 1/26/2006
Thanks for the input...I appreciate you doing it respectfully. I'm going to have to disagree with equal respect...on the album at least, this is how the song is played. I've only seen him play it live once, and I couldn't tell from where I was what chords he was playing...but I know it was in the same key as the album version.
