The Little Boy- Rebel Son

(D) (G) (A) (D) (D) (G) (A) (D) (D)

(D)1855 a (G)long time ago
a (A)little boy stands wai(D)ting all alone
by the train tracks outside the (G)railroad depot
and (A)nobody knew what his (D)name was

well he climbed up inside of the (G)very next train
and the (A)people asked him, “lonely (D)boy what’s your name?”
but he was too sick to talk so he (G)could not explain
so (A)nobody knew what his (D)name was

well all the people cared for him and (G)stayed by his side
and the (A)boys health grew weaker as the (D)hours passed by
and in his seat on that train car the (G)little boy died
and (A)nobody knew what his (D)name was

in South Carolina the (G)train stops still
and they (A)carried him off (D)in Graniteville
they made a grave and buried him (G)up on the hill
still (A)nobody knew what his (D)name was

(D) (G) (A) (D) (D) (G) (A) (D)

to this (D)day his grave’s kept clean and (G)covered with toys
with (A)hopes that he’ll have some(D)thing to enjoy
and his headstone still simple reads (G)“The Little Boy”
cause (A)nobody knew what his (D)name was

well (D)some nights at midnight a light (G)shines on his grave
or (A)so I’ve heard the (D)townspeople say
and some (D)say they’ve even seen him (G)come out to play
but still (A)nobody knows what his (D)name was

(D) (G) (A) (D) (D) (G) (A) (D)
