Virginia, No One Can Warn You
By Tift Merritt

Capo 5

          C D G C
With your eyes made up and your dress see thru
          C D G C
With your heart so big it don’t know what to do
          C D G C
You’re my favorite thing my sweet cavelier
         Am D
You have saved my life, I got to leave you here

Chorus:
      G D
Oh Virginia, no one can warn you
      Em C
Oh Virginia, I have tried to
         G D
When the winter comes, how the cold moves thru
      C D G
Oh Virginia, no one can warn you

I can not explain how you should begin
I can’t give you word, it won’t all cave in
There’s no good way home, there’s no place to rest
There’s no room down here for a pretty mess

Chorus

You don’t know it yet with your brand new kiss
You don’t want to stay here and live like this
The worst I could do, oh, what would I be
If I kept for mine something better than me

Chorus

Thanks for the word corrections!! I appreciate it...she is tough to understand in that song. Also, I saw her playing it on MWL and she played D at every spot instead of D7...I'm not a huge fan of D7 anyway. I appreciate the help!!

I guess she plays it differently from time to time. I saw her live in a very small
venue in Nashville, NC, just before she left for England and she played it without
a capo in C and played G7.
But who's counting--the whole album is great.

I guess it's a little late to rate this song, but I just played it the other day
and it was perfect. Awesome job!!!
