PAINT ME A BIRMINGHAM
Artist: Tracy Lawrence
Album: Strong
2004, Dreamworks Records
Submitted by: Christopher R.
4/10/2004

-------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: I thought I would submit this tab for beginners. By placing
a capo on the 6th fret, there are only 2 bar chords to worry about.
I am including 2 ways to play this song. Hope you enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Capo 6th Fret

(Version I - for intermediate/advance players)

Intro: (C) (Am) (F) (G)

He was (C) sitting there, his (F) brush in hand
(Gsus) Painting waves (G) as they danced, up(C)on the sand
With every stroke, he (F) brought to life
The (Gsus) deep blue of the (G) ocean, against the (C) morning sky
I (F) asked him if he only painted (Gsus) ocean scenes (G)
He (F) said for twenty dollars, I値l (Gsus) paint you anythi(G)ng

Could you paint me a (C) Birmingham
Make it (C/B) look just the (Am) way I planned
A little (Am/G) house on the (F) edge of town
Porch going all the (Gsus) way around (G)
Put her there in the (C) front yard swing
Cotton (C/B) dress make it, (Am) early spring
For a (Am/G) while she値l be, (F) mine again
(Gsus) If you can (G) paint me a Birming(C)ham

(Am) (F) (G)

He (C) looked at me, with (F) knowing eyes
Then (Gsus) took a canvas (G) from a bag there (C) by his side
Picked up a brush, and (F) said to me
Son (Gsus) just where in this (G) picture would you (C) like to be
(F) I said if there痴 any way you (Gsus) can (G)
Could you (F) paint me back into her arms (Gsus) again? (G)

Repeat Chorus

--Key Change--

Could you paint me a (D) Birmingham
Make it (D/C#) look just the (Bm) way I planned
A little (Bm/A) house on the (G) edge of town
Porch going all the (Asus) way around (A)
Put her there in the (D) front yard swing
Cotton (D/C#) dress make it, (Bm) early spring
For a (Bm/A) while she値l be, (G) mine again
(Asus) If you can (A) paint me a Birming(D)ham (D/C#) (Bm)
   Oh, paint me a Birming(G)ham (D)
