Long Drive Home
By The Turnpike Troubadours
Written By Evan Felker
CD: Turnpike Troubadours (2015)
Tabbed By Larry Mofle
9/20/15
Edit 9/26/15: In the chorus, it sounds like there is a D over the word "drive" (which
is how I originally tabbed it) but after checking out some live videos, I see there is no
D and it's the bass line that goes there. I took that chord out but you can always play it
and it still sounds great!
Capo 2
G D C G
I guess what I'll miss the most will be the mornin's
G D C G
The squeak of a hardwood floor as you start out your day
G D C G
And I'd love you darlin' from across your kitchen table
G D C G
And I'd love you, darlin' from a 1000 miles away
Pre-Chorus:
Bm
Oh and I'm still standin here and I got reasonable fears
C C/B C/A
That all the houses I built came crashin' down around my ears
Chorus:
D/F# G C
And we got a long drive home
G C
We got a long drive home
G C
We got a long drive home
D
And I'm damned if I do
C G C G
And I'm damned if you don't
If home is what you're lookin for, won't you find another business
If loving songs ain't in your cards, won't you find another game
Well, I'm still here searching for the things I been missin'
Livin' with these lowdown fools and all our stupid shame
Pre-Chorus:
Oh and I still dwell and set on all the things that I regret
You still can't forgive the times that I wish I could forget
Chorus
Fiddle
Well people anymore, they got no stayin' power
I love you come by easy, it'll leave you just the same
You want something bad, you gotta bleed a little for it
You gotta look it in the eye, you gotta call it out by name
Pre-Chorus:
Aw and lovers they march by but they ain't like you and I
They all want to be Hank Williams, they don't wanna have to die
Chorus
